GAZA typically holds Winter and Summer conferences. Recent topics have included Zoning Law, Annexation Methods, Historic Preservation, Eminent Domain, Sign Regulations, ADA compliance changes, GIS Applications for Zoning, Amending Zoning Ordinances, and Visioning.

The Summer conference is held in July or August at various locations across the state - past conferences have been in the Northeast Georgia mountains, St. Simons Island, Lake Lanier, Savannah, and Callaway Gardens.
