President Tom O'Bryant called the business meeting of GAZA to order at 11:58 a.m.
Several announcements were made to the membership concerning the dinner arrangements later in the evening as well as the entertainment - bingo.
Copies of the previous business meeting held on February 7, 2008, in Athens, Georgia, were distributed and reviewed. A motion by Ken Patton, seconded by Scott Morgan, moved to adopt the minutes as written. Motion passed.
Copies of the financial statement were distributed to all members for review and discussion. Treasurer Norman Pope gave a report on financial condition and IRS reporting. Martha Ann Coe made a motion seconded by Cynde Welch, to approve the financial report. Motion passed.
A report was given to membership concerning the "Betty Gecoma" scholarship for 2008-2009 by Norman Pope, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee. The scholarship has been awarded to Ashley Cara Sturm, Daughter of GAZA member Cindy England. Ashley recently graduated from Dawson County High School and will be attending North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Georgia in the Fall.
President O'Bryant and Ken Patton gave a report to the membership concerning the role GAZA will play as a certified maintenance provider for AICP credits and the intention of having the program established and certified prior to the Winter Conference in 2009.
President O'Bryant appointed Ken Patton to chair the nominations committee to present two board nominations at Winter Conference in 2009. Scott Morgan and Richard Osborne volunteered to serve on the committee.
Winter Conference 2009 is set for February 4 thru February 6 in Athens, Georgia. Summer Conference 2009 is scheduled for August 12 thru August 14 at the Marriott in Savannah, Georgia.
