President Nancy Seegar called the business meeting of GAZA to order at 8:40 a.m.
After announcements were made concerning opening sessions for the day, the business meeting continued.
Minutes of the previous business meeting held on February 4, 2010, were distributed and reviewed. After discussion, a motion was made by Duane Treadon, seconded by Richard Osborne, to accept the minutes as written. Unanimous approval.
A financial report was distributed to all members in attendance. After review and discussion, Ken Patton made a motion, seconded by Scott Morgan, to approve the financial report. Unanimous approval.
Norman Pope gave a brief report to the membership regarding the problems associated with ordering beach towels as the giveaway for the conference. Towels were monogrammed with incorrect emblem and returned to the manufacturer.
A report was made to the membership concerning the scholarship for 2010 – 2011. Only two applications were received for this school year and they came from two sisters. Board of Directors decided to split this year’s scholarship since both were so evenly qualified. Winners of the Betty Gecoma Scholarship For 2010-2011 are Suzanne Mastrario and Samantha Mastrario, daughters of Mike Mastrario. The $1,000 scholarship will be split with each girl receiving $500.00.
Since two board positions will be up for election at the 2011 Winter Conference, the following members volunteered to serve on the nominating committee: Ken Patton, Tom O’Bryant, and Angela Rambeau.
President Seegar announced that the 2011 Winter Conference is scheduled to be held February 2 thru 4 in Athens at the UGA Center for Continuing Education.
The business meeting was adjourned at 8:59 a.m.
