MARY TETER

 

Mary is originally from Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduation, she joined VISTA (Volunteers In Service to America) and was assigned to Albany, Georgia, where she worked for the Department of Corrections in a restitution center for probationers.

 

Mary began her career in planning with the City of Albany’s Planning and Development Services Department in 1978. After five years, she left to raise a family. In 2001, she returned to Planning and Development Services. She has served as Planning Manager since 2006, including two terms as Interim Director (2007 & 2010 – 2012). Prior to returning to Planning & Development she received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Computer Systems from Darton State College.

 

Mary is a member of the following professional organizations: Georgia Association of Zoning Administrators (presently serves on the Board of Directors), American Planning Association, Georgia Chapter of the American Planning Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. She is a member of the Albany Kiwanis Club and has served as President, Treasurer, and a Board Director.
