August 9 Planning & Zoning 101 training in Rome: UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government will lead this excellent training opportunity at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Dr, Rome, GA 30161. October 17 FREE Planning & Zoning Training in Americus sponsored by GPA and DCA. Training is designed for appointed Board members (PC, BZA) - elected officials and staff members are also invited. Event to be held from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at South Georgia Technical College and will include lunch. Sessions to include info on planning essentials; zoning essentials; legal info for local government officials; and a hot topic session. Did you know that, as a GAZA member, you, your child, or your grandchild in college/university can apply for the $1,000 annual Betty Gecoma scholarship? Please check out the Betty Gecoma scholarship page for an application. If you or your child/grandchild is approved, you/he/she can re-apply each year to possibly receive additional funds.
